Allow us two minutes to explain why you should be…
Have you wondered what it is the Chamber actually does, and more importantly if it might possibly be of any benefit to you? You’re not alone, many do. But it’s not a top secret society – in essence we represent YOU, the business community, in and around the Sherborne area, to help your business succeed. Because when Sherborne’s businesses are successful, the town thrives and we all benefit. On the wider scale, as a body we lobby the councils on your behalf, and we try to bring improvements to the area that benefit the businesses – and by extension the local community, and the local economy. We literally exist purely to promote our members’ businesses to the town beyond. With over 150 members, Sherborne has the largest chamber in Dorset outside of the BCP area, and we’re pro-active throughout the year – involved in just about every event that takes place in Sherborne, supporting the Sherborne community, attracting media interest and making the experience of visitors to the town more memorable.
It’s Sherborne’s Chamber who are driving the progress on CCTV in our main shopping areas, who organise the Christmas trees and of course the town’s annual Festive Shopping Day – the busiest day of the year for so many of our traders.
In addition to this, the Chamber offers a lot to members on a personal level. There are free training sessions throughout the year on varying topics, from HR and Employment Law, a certificated first aid course for you and your employees, social media masterclasses through to group sessions with a local Business Coach – and we’re always open to requests for new learning opportunities. We happily offer a free service to promote member’s news on our News page, advertise any vacancies on our Jobs, and post events on our Events page

Like all associations, our success relies upon our members – and this year as we look to grow ever more effective. We are offering half price membership to all new members for 2022; new members joining us this year will pay just £25 + VAT for their first year, but still get all the benefits current members get. A new representation for the SME’s and Independents.
Additionally, to strengthen the chamber and how we represent all local businesses, we are creating a committee position to represent the many small and independent businesses in Sherborne and the surrounding villages. This person will sit alongside the elected members and will be a route for SME’s and the ‘Indies’ to voice their thoughts, ideas and any concerns they may have.
Applications are currently open for this role – if you are interested in being considered for the position please email [email protected]
We hope to see many new members join us this year and we look forward to working with you in 2022 and hope for a bright and prosperous year.
