Our annual AGM was held on Monday 13th September at The Cross Keys Sherborne, the first official meeting since the pandemic began. Lots of new faces and it’s great to see the Chamber going from strength to strength. A massive thank you to all those who attended.
The event was chaired by Keith Bawden, who reflected on how impressed he was with the resilience, determination, sense of community and charity of businesses within Sherborne and the surrounding area during the last 12 months. Keith Bawden, Commercial and Event Manager at Leweston School, remains as Chair.
Taff Martin relinquishes his role as Vice Chair but remains a dedicated and loyal committee member. Carl Hankey, owner of Avalon Distillery, was elected to fulfil this position and we hope you will join us in supporting both of them in their new roles. Jane Wood remains as President and Nick Hunt as Treasurer.
We are delighted to welcome two new members to the Executive Committee, Mat Follas (Masterchef 2009 Winner, owner of Brambles Restaurant) and Mo Gherras (The Cross Keys). We look forward to their entrepreneurial input, resilience and influence as we emerge from the pandemic.
Keith then publicly thanked Lauren who left her role as Chamber Coordinator in June. She worked extremely hard over the many years of her service and we wish her well. Her replacement Louise Shewry is settling in very well and we welcome her with kindness.
Jane Wood shared information about ‘Fiver Fest’, an national event organised by (Totally Locally (www.totallylocally.org) championing town centres, encouraging people to spend more of money locally. This is fully supported by the Chamber, we encourage everyone to get involved and look forward to enjoying all the great offers.
In the coming months we hope to share news about our upcoming workshops, breakfast meetings and exciting projects we will be working on for 2021/2022.
