Who we are

Valmiera Glass UK Ltd (VGUK) - part of the Valmiera glass group since 2013 and even though there have been various owners and company name changes, we can trace our weaving history on the current site in Sherborne to before 1750.

What we do

VGUK specialise in the manufacture of high performance woven glass products for the aerospace and smoke & fire markets worldwide. Our process includes taking threads of glass fibers and weaving them in a loom to produce woven glass cloth. This glass cloth is then finished or coated in our facility for our customers to produce items such as the glass composites in an aircraft overhead locker or other aircraft components. (Something to consider when you next put away your hand luggage on a modern aircraft; it's possible that the base material was originally woven here in Sherborne, as it's only one of a handful of locations approved throughout Europe or worldwide to do so).
